Trevor Cairney

Trevor Cairney (BA, M.Litt, PhD) taught in elementary schools for over 10 years and also served as a curriculum consultant in language and literacy in elementary schools. His PhD and later research has explored pedagogy, curriculum, early language and literacy development, text comprehension and family literacy. He has presented his work at conferences around the world. He has written ten books and over 250 articles. His many academic posts have included Professor and Dean of Education at Western Sydney, Postdoctoral Fellow at Indiana University, Professor of Education and University Life Fellow at University of New South Wales Australia, and currently Honorary Professor of Education at the University of Sydney. He also writes the well-known blog ‘Literacy, Families & Learning’ which is followed internationally by thousands of parents and teachers.
