David Marshak

David Marshak has explored the unfoldment of consciousness in children and youth for more than four decades. His books, Evolutionary Parenting and The Common Vision: Parenting and Educating for Wholeness, describe human potential as this can be nurtured by parents and educators. His memoir, A Journey in Soul, tells his personal story as he accepted his role in the lineage that has brought the Common Vision and Evolutionary Parenting to contemporary parents and their families, a lineage that began with the inspired teachings of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, Rudolf Steiner, and Hazrat Inayat Khan.

Now David writes about the evolution of consciousness in youths and adults throughout the planet. His Substack blog draws on the insights from Jean Gebser, Clare Graves, Don Beck, Jenny Wade, and others who have described a detailed map of adult consciousness stages. The blog uses this stage paradigm as a tool for understanding phenomena taking place throughout the world in our times, particularly highlighting evidence that we are indeed evolving in consciousness.

David's guidebook, Inviting Youths to Claim the Power of Their Imaginations, explains why the concept of "adolescence" is a profound mistake when it comes to understanding youth and makes the argument for why youths need to be engaged in adult society in productive and responsible ways, both for the good of youths' unfoldment and for the health and well-being of society.
