Byron Rempel

In February of 1962, NASA had great difficulty setting a space probe on the moon. Ranger 3 missed by 22,000 miles. That April, they improved their aim and Ranger 4 crashed and disintegrated on the moon.

A month later, ten days after Byron Rempel was born, Marilyn Monroe sang “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” to John F. Kennedy. Believing this performance was really meant for him forever instilled delusions of grandeur in a boy otherwise meant for a future as a drifter and ne’er-do-well. A mid career shift towards tanning and surf culture ended abruptly after an unfortunate snowshoe incident, which was when Rempel reluctantly took up the pen. He has been paying the price ever since.
