Larry Goodell

Larry Goodell lives in Placitas, New Mexico. He started his own performance poetry in the late 60's, New Mexico style and is a forerunner in event-style poetry. His dearest poet and writer friends were Bob and (then) Bobbie Creeley, Ken Irby, Ann Quin, Margaret Randall, Kell Robertson, Stephen Rodefer, Latif Harris, Bill Pearlman, Gino Sky & others. He participated in the Vancouver Poetry Conference of 1964 and the Berkeley Poetry Conference of 1965 and in many Southwest Poetry Conferences in the 70's and 80's.

He emphasizes live readings and has organized them most of his life. The Duende Poetry Series in Placitas ran for over 12 years bringing mostly Southwest Poets in for recorded public readings. But he promotes the poet as publisher as proved by his Duende Press which he founded as part of the "mimeo revolution" in 1964. Recently he has resurrected Duende Press (the original) and is actively at work editing and publishing.

His writing often generates from maintaining fruit trees and irrigating, from seeking native flowering plants with Lenore, from the effects drought from lobal warming, from innate word-play, from the socio-political emergencies of our time and from his love and long relationship with photographer & artist Lenore Goodell.
