Philip Memmer

Philip Memmer is the author of six books of poems, most recently "Cairns," published by Lost Horse Press in 2022. "Lucifer: A Hagiography," his third book, was awarded the Idaho Prize from Lost Horse Press, and was published in January 2009. His other books include "Pantheon" (Lost Horse Press, 2019); "The Storehouses of the Snow" (Lost Horse Press, 2012); "Threat of Pleasure" (Word Press 2008), which was awarded the 2008 Adirondack Literary Award for Poetry, and "Sweetheart, Baby, Darling" (Word Press 2004). He is also the author of three chapbooks of poems.

Philip Memmer's poems have appeared widely in literary journals, including Poetry, Poetry Northwest, Southern Poetry Review, Mid-American Review, Epoch, Tar River Poetry, and many others. His work has also appeared in several anthologies, including "180 More: Extraordinary Poems for Every Day," edited by Billy Collins, "I Go to the Ruined Place: Contemporary Poems in Defense of Global Human Rights," and in "Don't Leave Hungry: 50 Years of Southern Poetry Review." His work has also appeared on www.poetrydaily.com and in Ted Kooser's "American Life in Poetry" column.

Memmer is the executive director of the Arts Branch of the YMCA of Central New York, where he founded the Downtown Writer's Center in 2001. He is associate editor for Tiger Bark Press. He lives in upstate New York with his wife and two children, and teaches creative writing at Hamilton College.
