Mike advocates for abused and neglected children shining a light on the profound impact abuse, violence and trauma is having on children, schools, public health, public safety and far too many communities.
Before COVID19, California’s Surgeon General had declared ACEs – Adverse Childhood Experiences a public health problem and school crisis. Today, millions more children are and have been locked into violent and toxic homes with little or no access to teachers or other mandated reporters that could help them find safety and healing.
Poor public perception of misguided punishment policies, a lack of institutional transparency, and a shortage of understanding the basics of child and community well-being are compounding failures in our child protection systems, schools, juvenile justice system and are impacting millions of American children and each and every one of us every day.
By generating conversation around the issue and exposing facts that have for too long been left unspoken, Tikkanen brings attention to solutions that reverse trends of generational child abuse to make our communities safer and happier places.
