Ruth Heidrich

Ruth Heidrich received her Ph.D. in Health Management in 1993 and is the author of A Race For Life (Lantern Books, 2006), CHEF (Cheap, Healthy, Easy, & Fast) The Race For Life Raw/Cookbook, (ebook, www.ruthheidrich.com); Senior Fitness (Lantern Books, 2005), and Lifelong Running: Overcome the Eleven Myths About Running & Live a Healthier Life (Lantern Books, 2013, Prevent, Reverse & Cure ED: Ten Steps To Total Sexual Fitness, (ebook, 2018), and her latest book is Breast Implant Illness: A Living Nightmare, (2022)

She is a certified fitness trainer and holds three world records for fitness for her age group at the renowned Cooper Clinic in Dallas, Texas. A runner since 1968 and triathlete since 1982, she's won more than 900 trophies and medals since her diagnosis of breast cancer at the age of 47.

She is a founding member and past president of the Vegetarian Society of Hawaii and past president of the Mid-Pacific Road Runners Club. She has won eight gold medals in the Senior Olympics in Hawaii, Arizona, and Nevada. She's done the Ironman Triathlon 6 times, 4 Kona, 1 New Zealand, and 1 Japan plus ultra-marathons and the pentathlon, most with age-group records. She's also run Boston, New York, Honolulu, and Moscow Marathons for a total of 67.

Dr. Ruth was featured in the documentary, Forks Over Knives, which covers her beating Stage 4 breast cancer, refusing chemo/radiation and by diet alone, and to prove how powerful the diet is, went on to be the first vegan to complete the Ironman Triathlon.
