Christopher Cessac

Christopher Cessac was born in Corpus Christi and grew up in South Texas. His most recent collection, The Youngest Ocean, was selected by Sir Andrew Motion for the 2018 Anthony Hecht Poetry Prize and published by Wayriser Press. His first poetry collection, Republic Sublime, won the Kenyon Review Poetry Prize. He is also the author of Eros Among the Americans, a chapbook, and his poetry has appeared in The Antioch Review, Black Warrior Review, Cimarron Review, Drunken Boat, Kenyon Review, Poetry Daily, Rattle, and elsewhere. His poem "Rio Grande at Noon, Rio Grande at Midnight" introduces Rio Grande, an anthology of prose edited by Jan Reid and including work by Larry McMurtry, John Reed, Américo Paredes, Woody Guthrie, Molly Ivins and others.
