Mark Rice

I'm a professor of American Studies at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, New York. The bulk of my scholarship is on photography, particularly those photographs that are presented, in some fashion or another, as authoritative images of their subject matter.

The Philippine edition of my book, DEAN WORCESTER'S FANTASY ISLANDS (Ateneo de Manila University Press, 2015) was the winner of the 2016 Gintong Aklat (Golden Book) Award in social sciences, and a finalist for the 2016 Philippine National Book Award in History.
