Andreas H. Bitesnich

Born in Vienna in 1964, Andreas H. Bitesnich is recognized as one of the greatest nude photographers of our time. His passion for photography began when he visited Milan and became inspired by the black-and-white photographs taken by his friend. Not long after, he acquired his first personal camera.

Despite having begun his career by working in retail, Andreas H. Bitesnich chose to devote himself exclusively to professional photography in 1989, and has since been represented at group and solo exhibitions in internationally renowned galleries and museums such as the Museum for Decorative Arts and Crafts in Hamburg and the Kunsthaus Wien.

Bitesnich is a master at capturing the breathtaking forms of the human body; the tension and symmetry exhibited by its shapes and shadows. Working primarily from intuition, he describes his images as belonging "to an organic creative process that has to do with the fascination for the relation between body, time, and space in a continual interaction of tension and balance." His repect and appreciation for both the bodies and personalities of his models resounds from every photograph.

Andreas H. Bitesnich lives and works in Austria. In his latest book India (released by teNeues Publishing in Septemeber, 2011), Bitesnich diverged from nude photography to document his travels across the sub-continent--creating a record of his fascination and a unique tribute for all that the nation represents.
