Leander Scholz

Leander Scholz studied Philosophy, Art History and German Literature at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, the Université de Paris-Sorbonne and at the Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln. His doctoral thesis on the history of political prudence received the award of the Universität Bonn. He is the author of several novels and cofounder of the publishing house Tropen Verlag. Additionally, he works as a freelancer for the radio stations Deutschlandradio and Südwestrundfunk. From 1999 to 2008, he was a research fellow at the Research Institute Media and Cultural Communication of the Universität zu Köln. From 2008 to 2020, he was a research fellow at the Research Institute for Cultural Technologies and Media Philosophy of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, as well as editor of the Journal for Media and Cultural Research. In 2012, he was habilitated with a work on the death of community at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. From 2021 to 2023, he was a research fellow at the Leibniz-Center for Literary and Cultural Research at Berlin. His fields of research include Cultural and Media Philosophy, Political Philosophy, Political Ecology, Identity Politics and Thanatology. He publishes regularly in Die Welt and Neue Zürcher Zeitung.
