Matthew L. Skinner

Matt Skinner is the Asher O. and Carrie Nasby Professor of New Testament at Luther Seminary in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

One of his most recent books, Acts: An Interpretation Bible Commentary (April 2025), offers a comprehensive analysis of the Acts of the Apostles. It is written primarily to assist preachers, teachers, and students as they study the theological relevance of Acts.

Another new book, Voices of Advent: The Bible's Insights for a Season of Hope (September 2025), explains how biblical texts contribute to how we experience the Advent and Christmas seasons.

He is interested in the Bible's contributions to our understanding of faith and life. Along with his academic writings, he contributes to numerous resources about the Bible. He is one of the cohosts of the weekly podcast Sermon Brainwave and has written often for the website Working Preacher.

He frequently speaks and teaches about the New Testament, early Christian history, and preaching in congregations and at conferences.
