Fruma Zachs

I am a Professor of Middle East History at the University of Haifa. I specialize in 19th and 20th century intellectual history of (Greater) Syria, including study of literature, gender, merchants, intellectuals and missionaries. I've written a book on Syrian proto-nationalism (Brill), co-editted a book on Ottoman reform (I.B.Tauris) and co-authored a book on gender and culture in Greater Syria (I.B.Tauris).
