Hans van Ewijk

The social is poetic and always challenging. It is about the art to connect, to profile and to position yourself. Of course are opportunities dependent on health, income, education, gender, colour etc. but essentially is each person a creator of his own life and responsible for it. I am as a professional (youth worker, teacher, manager, scientist) in the social domein for 40 years and still intrigued by the interaction between human beings. My special interests are local social policy, communities, citizenship, social complexity and social work theory. I am professor emeritus in social work theory at University for Humanistics (Utrecht), and in social policy and social work at the Utrecht University for Applied Sciences, and for 12 years a visiting professor in International social policy and social work in Tartu. Estonia is a great land to live every year for about six weeks. I am past chair of ENSACT, the European umbrella for social workers and social pedagogues, universities and national councils in social welfare.
