Gebonden. 367p. - Verzameling van zeventien artikelen geschreven door Pieter van Heijnsbergen (1880-1927), een vooraanstaand Nederlands jurist en in 1927 hoogleraar strafrecht en strafprocesrecht. Hij overleed echter reeds drie weken na het uitspreken van zijn inaugurele rede Het inquisitoire proces (Groningen, 1927).Deze bundel werd in 1929 postuum uitgegeven door zijn zoon, K.S. van Heijnsbergen, en bevat bijdragen die de veelzijdigheid en diepgang van Van Heijnsbergen's werk weerspiegelen. De opstellen in het boek behandelen diverse juridische thema's, met een nadruk op strafrecht en strafprocesrecht. Wat betreft het strafrecht werd Van Heijnsbergen, anders dan zijn leermeester Van Hamel, een aanhanger van de zogenaamde 'vergeldingsleer', waarop hij uitzonderingen mogelijk achtte. Ten aanzien van het strafprocesrecht koos hij voor het inquisitoire proces in zijn goede vorm, waarbij hij pleitte voor het behoud van de fundamentele principes, maar met afwijzing van alles wat ruw, onrechtvaardig of onbeschaafd is.
