Xu Xi

I write wherever I happen to be living at the time. For most of my adult life I've split my life between New York and Hong Kong, the city where I was born and raised by Indonesian-Chinese parents. For several years, I inhabited the flight path connecting New York, Hong Kong and the South Island of New Zealand. Being a diehard transnational, I now split my life between New York (the city and northern part of the state) and the rest of the world.

To date, I've published 14 books — five novels, one memoir, eight collections of stories and essays. I've also edited four anthologies of Hong Kong writing in English.
