Mario Wschebor, born in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1939. Married, 3 children, 5 grand children.

Mathematician, PHD from Southern Paris University (1972). Research area: Probability.

Currently, Professor at the Mathematics Center of the Faculty of Sciences, University of the Republic, Montevideo.

Dean of the Faculty of Sciences (1990-1998).

President of the Mathematical Union of Latin America and the Caribbean (1995-2001).

President of the Latin American Section of the Bernoulli Society (1985-1987).

President of the Administration Council of the International Center for Pure and Applied Mathematics,ICPAM, Nice, France (2005-2009).
