Richard P. Hiskes is Professor Emeritus of Political Science and Human Rights at the University of Connecticut. He is the author of many books and articles, broadly in the area of human rights. He specializes in the topics of environmental human rights and the human rights of children. His 2010 book, "The Human Right to a Green Future (Cambridge)," was named the best book in human rights by the American Political Science Association. His 2021 book, "Suffer the Children: A Theoretical Foundation for the Human Rights of the Child (Oxford)," earned Honorable Mention for Best Book in Human Rights by the International Studies Association. In 2022 he was named "Distinguished Scholar of Human Rights" by the APSA.
