For as long as I can remember, I have had an interest in fair play and I am passionate about creating equitable learning systems. I feel fortunate that I have served in many roles and in many levels of the education system - as a primary teacher and principal, secondary teacher and principal, district leader, provincial leader and currently in graduate leadership education at the University of British Columbia. My colleague Judy Halbert and I feel incredibly lucky to have the chance to learn more about Indigenous worldviews and languages through our work with the Networks of Inquiry and Indigenous Education. This learning is helping us become better people and better citizens. Co-writing Leading through Spirals of inquiry for Equity and Quality gave us the chance to reflect on the dedicated work of thousands of networked educators in British Columbia and around the globe. To all those educators who believe in the power of inquiry to change the experiences of young people, we are truly grateful. In addition to my enjoyment of learning and teaching, I Iove walking by the ocean, being in stimulating conversations, reading widely and always finding a reason for a good laugh.
