Sara Palmer

Sara Palmer is a retired psychologist and former faculty member at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Palmer's clinical and research career focused on helping people with physical disabilities and chronic illnesses (and their families) adapt to changes in their health and function and find ways to live meaningful lives. Since retiring from practice, Dr. Palmer has written books and other educational materials for patients, given presentations to patients and professionals on psychological aspects of disability, and facilitated workshops for consumer health groups.

Her books, published by Johns Hopkins University Press as part of their Health Books series, include:

1. Spinal Cord Injury: A Guide for Living (2000; second edition 2008);

2. When Your Spouse Has a Stroke: Caring for Your Partner, Yourself and Your Relationship (2011);

3. Just One of the Kids: Raising a Resilient Family When One of Your Children Has a Physical Disability (2013); and

4. Living with HHT: Understanding and Managing Your Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (2017).
