Yuri Pines

Yuri Pines (b. 1964, Kiev, Ukraine) teaches Chinese history and thought at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, as well as in China. His research focuses on early Chinese thought (the age of the "Hundred Schools of Thought," ca. 500-200 BCE), traditional Chinese political culture, and early Chinese history writing. He published four monographs in English (one was translated into Chinese and French), co-authored two Hebrew-language textbooks of Chinese history, and co-edited three other books. In 2010, his book "Envisioning Eternal Empire: Chinese Political Thought of the Warring States Era" was awarded Polonsky Prize for Creativity and Originality in the Humanistic Disciplines.
