Shellie Rushing Tomlinson

I'm a farmer's wife and totally besotted grandmother of half a dozen beautiful grandchildren I call The Super Six. My husband and I live and farm in northeast Louisiana. Our son and his family farm with us. Our daughter and her family live in Houston. One of my favorite things to do is to have all of them here at once. I call it lovely chaos.

I fell in love with storytelling as a child when my paternal grandmother regaled us with stories of what it was like to come to Louisiana from the hills of Appalachia and set up house in a tent with a dirt floor. I couldn't get enough of her memories.

On the other side of the family tree, my maternal grandfather, a people loving preacher, was known for using humor to draw his listeners to Jesus. It's safe to say the two of them marked me. I absolutely love to laugh-- mostly at myself. Hint: Learn to laugh at yourself, and you'll be ahead of the game. I like to say, "Life is hard when it's good, but it's always better when you're laughing!"

Whether in my books, speaking before audiences, or dropping a podcast episode, I love nothing more than helping hungry hearts feast on Jesus through humor and storytelling.
