Laurie Kaplan

Author Laurie Kaplan's Siberian husky, Bullet, was diagnosed with lymphoma at 9 years old. With chemo and a home care regimen that Laurie designed, Bullet survived cancer. He passed at 14 years old, still in remission from cancer. After constant prodding from Bullet's oncologist, Laurie wrote "Help Your Dog Fight Cancer" to help people caring for a dog with cancer. This book provides all of the information an owner needs to turn despair to confidence and become their best friend's best advocate. The book is highly acclaimed and has won numerous awards.

Laurie also founded Magic Bullet Fund Inc., to help people who had a dog with cancer but could not afford treatment fees. In 20 years the fund helped 918 families take their dogs through cancer treatment, before closing in 2024.

Laurie also wrote "So Easy to Love, So Hard to Lose," to help pet owners weather the emotional trauma of pet loss. Laurie has a Masters degree in Counseling and consulted hundreds of pet owners in the fund, after the loss of a pet. In this book, expertly sequenced and worded text pages followed by journaling pages, lead the owner through the grief journey to finally feel strong and healthy again.

Laurie is happy that she wrote "Help Your Dog Fight Cancer," to help so many people and their dogs with cancer. She is very sad that there are so many who need the book.
