Jim Melchiorre

James Paul Melchiorre (Jim) is a U.S. journalist, video producer, and author. He has also worked for more than twenty years in faith-based homeless shelters and often writes about, and advocates for, homeless citizens. Although his career in journalism has included coverage of politics, war, and societal unrest, Melchiorre’s primary focus since 2000, in both his journalism and video production, has been on subjects related to religious institutions and religious faith. His books tend to focus on insights derived from a wide range of life experiences. Those include a childhood in an immigrant-influenced Roman Catholic Church, his travels as a journalist and as a volunteer in church overseas Mission and Service settings, and as a member of the U.S. Navy, including a stint on active duty in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait during the Gulf War. Melchiorre’s first two books “Reflections of Messiah: Contemporary Advent Meditations Inspired By Handel” and “Novena In Time Of War” were published by Upper Room Books, a division of the United Methodist Church, of which the author has been a member for almost twenty-five years. Melchiorre is currently working on a third book that he describes as a 90-day guide through the four Gospels.
