Fred Erisman

Fred Erisman spent 35 years teaching literature and history at Texas Christian University, including courses in American literature, children's literature, science fiction, history of technology, detective and suspense fiction, and the Western. In addition, he spent a year at the National Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian Institution, as the Charles A. Lindbergh Chair of Aerospace History. His research work and publications generally followed these lines, leading to numerous academic articles and his two principal books, FROM BIRDWOMEN TO SKYGIRLS: AMERICAN GIRLS' AVIATION STORIES (2009), and BOYS' BOOKS, BOYS' DREAMS, AND THE MYSTIQUE OF FLIGHT (2006).
