Jennifer P. Mathews

Jennifer Mathews (1969-) is a fifth-generation Californian and San Antonio transplant who teaches Anthropology at Trinity University. She has worked in the Yucatan Peninsula of southern Mexico since 1993, studying the ancient, historic and contemporary Maya. She has written four books, including "Lifeways in the Northern Maya Lowlands" (with Bethany Morrison), "Quintana Roo Archaeology" (with Justine Shaw), "Chicle - The Chewing Gum of the Americas: From the Ancient Maya to William Wrigley" (with Gillian P. Schultz), and "The Value of Things" (with Tom Guderjan, which examines ancient to contemporary Maya commodities, from jade and chocolate, to rum and tourist handcrafts.
