Jo-Ann Morgan

Jo-Ann Morgan is the author “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” as Visual Culture (Missouri, 2007) winner of the 2008 Peter Seaborg Award for Civil War Nonfiction. Her articles on the representation of African Americans in American visual culture have been published in American Art, Journal of American Studies, Journal of American Culture, and Southeastern College Art Conference (SECAC) Review. She is Associate Professor of Art History in a dual appointment with the Department of African American Studies and Department of Art at Western Illinois University, Macomb, Illinois, where she also hosts the television interview program “15 Minutes with Jo-Ann Morgan” on WIU-TV cable channel 3. She is working on a book about the visual culture of Black Power.
