Davina C. Lopez holds an MA in Ethics, and a PhD in New Testament Studies, from Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York, as well as a BA in Religion from Emory University. Her research and teaching interests include Pauline studies; the Greek, Jewish, and Roman imperial contexts of the New Testament writings; and the continuing relevance of sacred texts as significant sites for articulating identity and power relationships. She also has interests and training in the interdependence of visual and literary materials, the study of gender and sexuality, theories and methods in the study of religion, and teaching and learning in religious studies. She is the author of Apostle to the Conquered: Reimagining Paul's Mission (Fortress Press, 2008), the co-author, with Todd Penner, of De-Introducing the New Testament: Texts, Worlds, Methods, Stories (Wiley-Blackwell, 2015), and a senior editor of The Oxford Encyclopedia of the Bible and Gender Studies (Oxford, 2014).
