Charlene A. Hosenfeld

Charlene Hosenfeld is a psychologist by profession and an environmentalist by persuasion. She received her Ph.D. in counseling from Ohio University. Her passion is for nurturing life on Earth, both through psychological practice and through being active in environmental organizations that serve both congregations and the larger community.

Dr. Hosenfeld was invited to attend training offered by The Climate Project (www.theclimateproject.org) in October 2008 and was personally trained by Former Vice-President Al Gore to educate others about the climate crisis and potential solutions. She offers community presentations based on Mr. Gore's Academy Award-winning film, An Inconvenient Truth.

Eco-Faith: Creating & Sustaining Green Congregations (The Pilgrim Press, 2009), Dr. Hosenfeld's most recent book, is a culmination of several years of work; it blends psychological, theological and ecological issues, and is a guide for church leaders, congregations and individuals to help facilitate understanding of these interconnected issues as they relate to caring for God's green and blue Earth. Her purpose in writing the book was to spur action vital to the care and restoration of the planet, and her hope is that Eco-Faith will create a groundswell of environmental stewardships actions initiated and supported by faith communities.
