Diane M. Renna

Diane M Renna resides in Long Island, NY, with her husband Lorenzo, and their children, Meghan, Michael, and Gavin. She left working as an administrative assistant in NYC to become a stay-at-home mom in 1998. When Meghan was diagnosed with severe SPD at age 5, Diane investigated and tried alternative therapies with the vision of helping her children. She never complained or gave up hope. She understood and wanted to make their world a safe and comfortable place. Back then, there was not much information about SPD and Diane had to research and seek out therapists and therapies that were far from where they lived. Many of the alternative therapies are more accepted now than they were then...and by the way, they still are helping children today.

It should also be noted that Meghan is now almost 21 years old (Sept 2017) and is living a happy, healthy life. She lost her dx of Sensory Integration Dysfunction (SPD) by the time she was in Second Grade. It should also be pointed out that the therapies presented in Meghan's World were done over a period of time and were not continued as a daily protocol. However, with time and dedication Meghan and her siblings overcame and healed many issues that were going on, etc. Furthermore, Meghan is 10 years older than Gavin (presently 11; Diane was pregnant with him when she wrote Meghan's World)...if it was not from the knowledge Diane gained in helping heal Meghan; her younger brother would be a different child today. The same applies for Michael as well since Diane applied those same therapies, etc. to him when she was doing them with Meghan.

Diane has been on a long journey in raising her three children. SPD is no longer a jail-keeper to their lives. She has gained much knowledge and understanding and has grown as a person in helping her children overcome their life challenges. She has found her life's purpose and is dedicated her time to helping children with SPD/ASD and other social and emotional behaviors, as well as their families. Since the writing of Meghan's World in 2007, Diane has gone on to create many children's programs and often works with other companies/agencies to promote the importance of early intervention and advocacy.
