Timothy J. Burbery

I teach English at Marshall University, in Huntington, West Virginia, USA. The Atlantic Monthly calls me "an expert on geomyths" and my work in geomythology has been featured there and in BBC Earth, TED-ed, the Independent (UK), New Hampshire Public Radio, Newstalk (Ireland), Hakai (Canada), Epoch (Israel), DeutschlandFunk (German public radio), Epsiloon (France), Dr. Eclectic, and Defector. I started my career as an early modern studies scholar but now research other areas as well, including geomythology and literary theory. I lament the split between the two cultures of science and the humanities, and believe that geomythology can play a part in reconciling them.
