I started writing the moment I learned to hold a pencil. Along the way I've had a gazillion jobs--
horse wrangler, ballet teacher, drug store clerk, restaurant hostess, truck stop waitress, receptionist, baker, secretary, store manager, seamstress, landscape designer, housepainter, delivery girl, Jr. High teacher…
I sold my first article to "Horse and Horseman" in 1976. I paid my way with articles, radio broadcasts and books, working as a journalist until newspapers and magazines folded.
Highlights? Interviewing Roger "King of the Road" Miller and Stewart Udall. And, of course, breaking my wild horse, Sadie Sue back when I was an outdoor writer.
