Having a degree in Dental Hygiene and no formal art training, I began my quilting life as a traditionalist in a class I was dragged to by my sister-in-law. I had no intention of becoming a quilter and yet, I discovered I loved all aspects of quilting....the stitching, the collecting of antique quilts and even an appreciation of quilted art.
In time I wanted to leave the patterns and books of others behind and started experimenting with pieces of my own design. Some of my initial attempts won awards and I was thrilled to discover a hidden creativity. My current work expresses my passion for color and design, my insistence on good workmanship and my faith in Christ. I do not consider myself a serious artist, but rather a joyful one and I feel my work reflects this in the content, variety and passion of each piece.
I find as much fulfillment in sharing my passion with others through lectures, workshops and books as I do in creating my own work. My most recent book: Snuggle and Learn Quilts for Kids, was inspired by the birth of my first grandchild. Hanna lives 1000 miles from me and I filled the "I miss Hanna" moments by making her quilts that were not only colorful and cuddly, but educational. The response from her and all who saw them was so positive that I decided I should share my patterns with others who have special children in their lives.
