Susan F. Belgrad offers training and workshops on performance assessment and
Creating Student Portfolios to Monitor Student Achievement. She is currently a Professor of Education with California State University, Northridge. She has taught at the elementary level and in early childhood special education, and has enjoyed a long career in higher education working with teachers from pre-kindergarten through high school. For the past 20 years, Belgrad has led state and national efforts that support teachers' professional education and public awareness of teacher excellence.
Susan leads graduate courses and professional development for teachers in differentiated learning and assessment, best media-rich classroom management practices, brain-compatible curriculum development, and technology-supported learning. Her research is on teacher efficacy and student learning and the impact of classroom learning culture on brain development in children and adolescents.
Susan has had articles published in journals and monographs and been a contributor to many news and magazine articles and is frequently interviewed on radio. She has written book chapters on performance-based assessment and is the lead author of The Portfolio Connection: Student Work Linked to Standards, 3rd ed.
