Betsy Parish

Betsy Parish is a former newspaper columnist who also had a lengthy career as a marketing and public relations executive in the retail and hospitality industries. She is a fifth generation descendent of one of the pioneering families who settled Houston in 1838. Her grandfather, Dr. E. Freeman Robbins, was a 1911 alumnus of Baylor University College of Medicine in Dallas who became the first intern at Houston’s Baptist Sanitarium and Hospital and practiced in Houston for more than six decades. The author of Legacy: Fifty Years of Loving Care, Texas Children’s Hospital, 1954-2004, published in 2008, Ms. Parish is a past President of the Friends of the Texas Medical Center Library and continues to serve on its board of directors. She is an advocate of all efforts to document and preserve the history of Houston health care.
