Donn Devine

Donn Devine is an attorney, city planner, genealogist, and a retired brigadier general of the Delaware Army National Guard. He lives in Wilmington, Delaware, where he has spent most of his life.

His local and family history works include publications on Delaware and Wilmington, magazine articles on genealogical methods, and research journal articles on families named Baldwin. Devine, DeRevere, Drake, Freer, McGovern, and Osborn, using both traditional records research and newly available genetic data from DNA testing. He took part in the development of the first published genealogical standards while a trustee of the Board for Certification of Genealogists, 1992-2006, and in a related role, as archivist for the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington since 1989, he supported and advised a volunteer group that produced an every-name searchable database from the pre-1900 baptism and marriage records of the diocese, now online at www.lalley.org.
