Kathy Roberts Forde is Professor of Journalism at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is the co-editor of and contributor to Journalism and Jim Crow: White Supremacy and the Black Struggle for a New America (University of Illinois Press, 2021), which won the AEJMC History Division Book of the Year Award and the American Journalism Historians Association Book of the Year Award. It was a runner-up for the AEJMC Tankard Book Award. She is author of Literary Journalism on Trial: Masson v. New Yorker and the First Amendment, winner of the AEJMC History Division Book of the Year Award and the Frank Luther Mott-Kappa Tau Alpha Best Book Award. Her journal articles on press history have twice received the Covert Award for best media history article of the year and the James W. Carey Media Research Award.
