Rebecca K. Leet developed her unique process for designing messages while consulting for major American institutions like the Ford Foundation, American Red Cross, Deloitte Tax LLP, and American Lung Association. Her book, Message Matters, has been used in graduate school programs nationwide such as Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, NYU, American and Brown universities because, as one Georgetown professor said, "it's the only book that actually explains how to create a message." Early in her career she covered the U.S. Congress as a reporter for the Washington (DC) Star, across the Potomac River from her home in Arlington, VA, and recently has turned to writing poetry.
