Gavin Spickett

Dr. Spickett is general physician and clinical immunologist/allergist. He trained in medicine at Oxford University and completed his DPhil in Immunology at the MRC Cellular Immunology Unit. After general medical training he worked at the Clinical Research Centre, Harrow and then completed his clinical immunological training back in Oxford. He worked as a consultant physician and immunologist/allergist in the North-East of England until recent retirement from clinical practice. His interests have been in primary immunodeficiency diseases, chronic fatigue syndromes and allergy. He was President of the Association of Clinical Pathologists in 2007-2008. He was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the UK Primary Immunodeficiency Network in 2017. He is the author of a number of undergraduate and postgraduate books on clinical immunology and has been a contributor to multiple editions of the Oxford Textbook of Medicine and Medicine at a Glance. He continues to be an active author. He is a keen ultra-runner, a qualified fitness instructor, is interested in sports medicine and has published an introduction to running for beginners.
