Clara Silverstein

Clara Silverstein was raised in Richmond, Virginia. Her experiences there inform her 2025 poetry collection, "Above the Fall Line," the memoir, "White Girl: A Story of School Desegregation," and the Civil War-era novel "Secrets in a House Divided." As a food writer, she is the author of "The Boston Chef's Table" and co-author of "The New England Soup Factory Cookbook," Her writing has appeared in publications including Runner's World, American Heritage, Blackbird, 100 Word Story, and the Boston Globe. She has worked as a journalist, an historian, and program director of the Chautauqua Writers' Center. Now based in Boston, she presents programs about history and teaches non-fiction writing workshops.
