Wayne Neely is an international speaker, best-selling author, lecturer on hurricanes, educator, and meteorologist. Traveling extensively throughout the region and the world, Wayne addresses critical issues affecting all aspects of hurricanes, especially Bahamian Hurricanes which is one of his central areas of expertise. Furthermore, he is a Bahamian Meteorologist/Forecaster working at the Bahamas Department of Meteorology for the past 29 years and has gained insightful knowledge and experience working with hurricanes. He has held two major exhibitions on all the major hurricanes to affect The Bahamas at the East Hill Post Office in Nassau, Bahamas. These exhibitions were highly attended by most of the government and private schools’ students throughout Nassau and the Family Islands. Many of them went on field trips to the East Hill Post Office just to view these exhibitions.
Over the years Wayne has written several articles in various local (The Nassau Tribune, The Bahama Journal, and The Nassau Guardian) and international newspapers (including, National Geographic, The Washington Post, and The New York Times) about weather events and hurricanes which have impacted both this country and the region. He has also written the annual Hurricane Supplement for The Nassau Guardian and Tribune on several occasions, including last year’s hurricane season and had several featured articles in the Bahamas Handbook. He has also appeared on various local and international television and radio shows to promote his previous books, including, The Weather Channel, Weather Brains, Hurricane City, Rotary Club, Nova/PBS, Bahamas at Sunrise, ZNS Television and Radio News, Bahamas Cable12 News, and Charles Carter’s Bahamians weekly radio show, Guardian Talk Radio, Island FM ‘The Morning Boil.’ He has contributed questions for both ‘Jeopardy’ and ‘Who Wants to be A Millionaire.’ He has also contributed to the research of and appeared in the Nova/PBS documentary called ‘Killer Hurricanes’ based on his bestselling book "The Great Hurricane of 1780."
