Thomas R. Gest

Dr. Gest joined the Central Michigan University College of Medicine faculty from Texas Tech University Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, and before that, the University of Michigan Medical School. Dr. Gest has taught gross anatomy and embryology for nearly four decades, and built the world-renowned Michigan and Texas Tech Anatomy web sites, which he now brings to CMU. He serves as Coordinator of the Gross and Clinical Anatomy Working Group for the Federative International Programme for Anatomical Terminology, and he is currently finalizing the most significant update of official anatomical terminology, Terminologia Anatomica, in 21 years. He has served in several positions for the National Board of Medical Examiners, including two terms on the Item Writing Committee for Gross Anatomy and Embryology. Dr. Gest has authored numerous books and learning materials for gross anatomy and embryology, and has edited a number of other textbooks, atlases, and educational software.
