Joel S. Franks

My name is Joel Franks, and I am a retired faculty member from San José State University where I taught Asian American, Ethnic, and American Studies. I also published several books and articles mainly in Asian American and Pacific Islander sport history, and I believe I am considered a major authority in this field. Before that I got a BA and MA in History from San Jose State and a Ph.D. from the Program in Comparative Culture at the University of California. And while I am presently living in Washington DC to be close to my daughter and grandchildren, My wife Cheryl and I are native born Californians and proudly so.
