Doug Clouse

Doug Clouse is a graphic designer and writer interested in the history of design, particularly typography and letterforms. He has been designing for many cultural and commercial clients for 29 years, including The New York Public Library, The New York Botanical Garden, and the New York Transit Museum, and is partner in the design firm The Graphics Office. This career experience enriches his writing by giving him intimate knowledge about the details of the design profession and what it is that working designers are interested in and want to see. The book he co-authored and designed with business partner Angela Voulangas won a prestigious design award from the Type Directors Club and was named 2010 best Visual Culture Publication by The Victorian Society New York. His latest book, Ray Komai: Design For America was inspired by his neighbors in New York City, Japanese-Americans who were incarcerated during World War II. Doug was raised overseas and on a chicken farm in North Carolina, and is curious about almost everything.
