My name is Andrew Schiff: I am the author of "The Father of Baseball": A Biography of Henry Chadwick, the most influential figure in nineteenth century baseball. I grew up in Brooklyn, New York during the 1970s and was a avid sports fan; like many of my friends, baseball was the game I enjoyed most. After graduating John Dewey High School in 1986, I attended Brooklyn College and started doing research on Chadwick working with Professor Edwin Burrows, who later won the Pulitzer Prize for his book on the history of New York City entitled "Gotham." When I completed my undergraduate degree, with a BA in History, I moved to Albany, New York, where I attended graduate school at SUNY. In two years I attained a Master's Degree in History graduating in 1995. My ninety-page Master's Thesis on Chadwick led me to writing a full biography published in 2008 by McFarland. That year, my book was a finalist for the Seymour Medal awarded by the Society of American Baseball Research given to the author yearly for the best book on baseball. I currently live in New York and am working on a new book called "Jews in Football." In addition to being a biographer, I am a musician and songwriter, and am currently working on a CD due out later this year.javascript:void(0)
