Anne Paris

Anne Paris, PhD, is a clinical psychologist who has practiced psychotherapy for 25 years. Her groundbreaking approach in helping people unleash their creativity is firmly based in contemporary Self Psychology theory and it evolved from her close associations with theoretical pioneers Drs. Anna and Paul Ornstein, Dr. Marion Tolpin, Dr. Doris Brothers, and others. She felt a powerful personal and professional resonance with these ideas about understanding the human condition. She founded and directed the Cincinnati Center for Self Psychology, a training and education program for mental health professionals.

Dr. Paris applied the principles of Self Psychology in her work with artists. Through thousands of hours of psychotherapy sessions with musicians, writers, painters, sculptors, dancers, and others, she witnessed the deep and meaningful struggles most had throughout their creative work. With compassion and empathy, Dr. Paris helped artists appreciate the nature of their blocks and fears, and helped them to realize the vitality discovered in certain kinds of connections with others. Her unique path to creative immersion through support from mirrors, heroes, and twins, has enabled her clients to start and finish their greatest projects.
