Thomas Barthel

Thomas Barthel, after writing short biographies for the Dictionary of American Biography was an associate editor for the Red Sox newspaper "Die Hard." He has presented talks on his books at national conventions of SABR and at the Baseball Hall of Fame as well. His books have drawn the attention of both the New York Times and the New Yorker.

His Babe Ruth book marks his seventh full length volume, all deeply researched. For one of those books a reviewer Ron Briley in the journal "Nine," wrote "Barthel will delight those seeking a detailed chronicle of baseball in the 1930s." His books have been reviewed in "The Journal of Sport History," "Aethlon," "Elysian Fields Quarterly," and "Sports Collectors Digest" as well.

A graduate of the Master's writing program at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Barthel is a professor emeritus from the State University of New York. He lives in central New York.
