Kali VanBaale

Born and raised on a dairy farm in rural southern Iowa, Kali VanBaale's recent novel, THE GOOD DIVIDE, was awarded the Eric Hoffer Book Award for General Fiction, was shortlisted for the Hoffer Grand Prize, and named an Indie Book Award Finalist.

Her debut novel, THE SPACE BETWEEN, earned an American Book Award, the Independent Publisher's silver medal for general fiction, and the 2006 Fred Bonnie Memorial First Novelist Award.

She was awarded a State of Iowa Arts Council major artist grant for her pending third novel, THE CURE FOR HOPELESS CAUSES.

Her short stories and essays have appeared in Numero Cinq, The Milo Review, Northwind Literary, The Writer, and several anthologies.

Kali holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts and is an instructor in the Lindenwood University MFA program.

She resides outside Des Moines with her husband and three children.
