Alex has worked for three different federal (US Army Corps of Engineers, US Environmental Protection Agency, US Coast Guard), a state (NYS Department of Environmental Conservation) and municipal (Brick Township) environmental agencies, and owned and operated a restaurant on the Jersey shore before going back to the government for his last career (USCG). He is now retired from government and doing some writing, sailing, hunting and fishing, as well as looking at consulting or term employment in areas of interest. Alex is interested in all aspects of the environment, though his training and career have been mainly in the marine area. Since the 2008 economic collapse he became very interested in global and national economics, including in how they can affect environmental issues (which he talks about in his last book). He's also quite interested in how people will manage in an environment of increased global climate change, including rising sea levels, increased storm effects on coastal populations and greater pressure on natural resources.
Alex lives in the NY area and is the sole parent of a twenty year old son.
