Thomas J. Misa

Thomas J. Misa is professor of history in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, teaching in the Program for the History of Science, Technology, and Medicine at the University of Minnesota. For 11 years he was director of the Charles Babbage Institute. He has published eleven books, including Communities of Computing: Computer Science and Society in the ACM (2016); FastLane: Managing Science in the Internet World (2015); Digital State: The Story of Minnesota's Computing Industry (2013); Gender Codes: Why Women Are Leaving Computing (2010); and Leonardo to the Internet: Technology and Culture from the Renaissance to the Present (2011, 2nd edition).
